We carried out a large-scale refurbishment over a five-year period in family house in the Dulwich area. The result is a stunning family home, including 5 bedrooms and 3 en-suites over 3 floors. The building itself is so stunning that it has been photographed by many architects and interior designers in London and will be getting featured in a number of magazines. Situated on the peaceful and private Woodhall Drive, the house looks incredibly unique due to many items being bespoke. The first noticeable feature is the glass structure from basement to the top of the house which bathes the house in natural light as well the prominent glass box around the stairwell.
The Canmore Construction Scotland Limited team added a large rear extension to the original house and excavated a huge basement which includes a cinema room, study and a gymnasium to keep the residents entertained. All the upstairs bedrooms of the house contain picturesque views of the city of London. To go with the glass theme of the client, we added glass floors to the living room and the upstairs hallway to create more light for the residents whilst ensuring privacy by making them opaque. The large open plan space on the ground floor can be separated by enormous sliding doors between the living room, entrance hall and kitchen area. These divide the space beautifully for personal privacy when people want to cook or watch the television. One of our most unique features is the bespoke staircase which was constructed on site with steel members and timber treads used throughout the entire property.
The technology used within the home resulted in its very own Comms Room. An AV system, equipped with speakers dotted around the ceilings, enable music to be played throughout the house via a phone app. This superb sound system also complements the screen in the cinema room with its cinematic sounds. The lighting throughout the house was a great consideration, creating various moods at different times of the day and night. Especially noticeable are the lights on all the individual stairs. This credit is thanks to Lutron for the lighting and LiveWire for the sound system. Finally, the outside areas were beautifully landscaped, providing a number of spaces for the family to relax or entertain.
